Century Arms Draco AK Pistol

Century Arms has been the largest importer of surplus and new firearms in North American for over half a century. Century Arms was founded in 1961 in Vermont and relocated to Florida in 1995. The company primarily imports guns but also manufacturers branded weapons under the company's name. They have a long history of bringing affordable, high-quality firearms and accessories to the American collector, hunters, and range shooters. Their manufacturing facility in the USA also offers innovative products for consumers, government services, and law enforcement. Always looking for new, quality products made abroad, the Draco stands out as one of the most popular newer releases by Century Arms.

Century Arms
Offering a wide range of handguns, rifles, and shotguns, Century Arms is popular among gun enthusiasts around the country. Century Arms imports several high-quality firearms. Their main imports have included:

⦁    Scharfschützengewehr 82, or SSG 82, translated to "the sharpshooter." It features a barreled action with a free-floating barrel to improve accuracy and a 4×32 telescopic sight with mounting rails
⦁    Wassenaar Arrangement Semi-automatic Rifles (WASR), which features a side mount scope rail and many options for aftermarket accessories
⦁    Samozaryadny Karabin Sistemy Simonova 1945, also called the SKS, which has a 10-round internal box mag and a built-in battle setting on the rear sight set to 330 yards.

Century Arms Draco AK Romania

The Century Arms Draco
The Century Arms Draco exemplifies what gun lovers have come to expect from Century Arms' other models. The Draco AK pistol is a compact semi-automatic pistol that was inspired by the AK-47 rifle made by Kalashnikov.

The Draco is made in Romania and imported by Century Arms. It is small, yet powerful, and can operate effectively in most climates and conditions, making it a popular choice.  It is popular among sporting enthusiasts and offers a growing list of aftermarket customizability. It is easy to carry, versatile, and robust despite its size.

The Draco semi-automatic pistol is 21.5" long and features a 12.25" chrome-lined barrel and weighs 5.5 pounds. It comes with a standard magazine that holds 30 7.62 x 39mm caliber rounds. It has a fixed front sight and an adjustable rear sight. This gun comes in a matte black finish and has a polymer grip.

The Draco pistol uses a gas firing system like the one used in the AK-47 rifle, allowing it to function well even in wet, sand, or other adverse environments. It is exceptionally durable and offers consistent performance. It can take standard AK-47 magazines, as well as drum magazines. The capacity of drum magazines available varies, usually holding between 50 and 100 rounds. The standard magazines hold 30 rounds.

Alternate Configurations
The Draco also exists in other configurations. Different sizes and setups allow gun users to find a Draco that suits them. One main benefit for the Draco is that due to its size and configuration, the U.S. Government considers it a pistol because it is stockless.

Draco Blade
The Draco Blade features an AK-47 adapter to the rear of the pistol and a wooden handguard. These parts allow the pistol to be used similarly to a rifle. The shockwave blade brace improves stability, while the wood handguard gives you a better grip on the gun. This can substantially differentiate the shooting experience from other Draco models, incorporating control and precision into this already powerful pistol.

Draco NAK9
The Draco NAK9 is an alternative to the Draco that fires 9mm Luger rounds. Its standard magazine can hold 33 rounds. It is slightly more massive at 6.38 lbs and has an 11.14" barrel. It's more cost-effective than the Draco, and it's 9mm rounds provide less recoil for the shooter. Additionally, the magazine accepts Glock 17 and Glock 19 cartridges.

Mini Draco
The Mini Draco is slightly smaller than the Draco, with a 7.75" barrel, weighing 5.65 lbs. It uses the same rounds as the Draco and accepts all AK magazines. What this pistol lacks in size, it makes up for in firepower and enjoyment on the range and hunting grounds. The smaller version of the Draco has considerably more recoil, making it great for experienced gun owners looking for a thrill.

Micro Draco
The Micro Draco is an even smaller alternative with a 6.25" barrel and weighing less than 5 lbs. It also takes AK-47 magazines with 7.62 x 39mm rounds. This is the smallest of the series and provides a wild blast with a substantial flash. It's a perfect companion for the shooting range, allowing sport shooters to take advantage of a gun that packs an enormous punch for its size.

US-Made Draco
For those searching for a 100% American made gun, Century Arms offers their own US-made Draco. The only gun in their line that's not an import, this Draco is made entirely in America, offering the same features as the Romanian weapon but with all-American parts and manufacturing.

Final Thoughts
The Century Arms Draco is a solid and popular pistol. Based on the infamous AK-47's firing system, the Draco's reliability and compactability make it a desirable addition to any gun collection. Although they have similar firepower and recoil to the larger AK style rifles, the Draco is meant for shorter-range targets.  Avid gun owners will enjoy the power, reliability, and retort this gun provides. Century Arms offers a fun, powerful package with this weapon, making the Draco a great addition.
