The PKM (Pulemyot Kalashnikova Modernized) is a Soviet-designed general-purpose machine gun (GPMG) introduced in the early 1960s as an improved version of the original PK.
The PKM became a backbone weapon across Soviet and later Russian forces, and it’s still widely used globally. Its balance of firepower, durability, and portability made it one of the most successful machine gun designs of the 20th century.
